Today’s featured shipping container home on Container Home Hub is Jessica’s beautiful Oregon shipping container home located at Pacific Pines Ranch. While this home is still under construction, the potential here is massive and we are so excited to see what she does with it. In the meantime, though, let’s take a look at the work they have done so far.
This Oregon shipping container home is going to be a three level residence built from five different containers. The top level is going to feature a large deck area right outside the container that makes up the third floor. There is so much that can happen with this area and so much room for things like deck furniture and dining sets that will be perfect for warm summer nights.
The designers of this Oregon shipping container home started out with some raw, stock shipping containers that they have kept more or less original so far. We are very curious to see what they do with the exterior of these containers. There is definitely something about the way they look when they are left painted in their original color but with the way this home is coming together, there is a lot of potential for color choices.
The bottom floor is mounted on a cement pillar foundation that sets the whole home level on this hillside overlooking the forest. We just love the way this home is laid out in conjunction with the surrounding landscape. This kind of view is exactly why people live in Oregon. At the right time, it can be absolutely breathtaking.
One of the things that this Oregon shipping container home has an abundance of is windows. Like we were saying above, when you have a view that is this spectacular, you want to make sure you can get a good look at it whenever you want. Plus, it gives the home a fantastic, modern feel that we think works so well with this type of alternative housing.
Once all the containers are placed, you can really see how this Oregon shipping container home is starting to come together. The way the front facade is left raw and closed off while they have all those windows facing out to the woods is going to be just beautiful. The fantastic use of open and closed spaces is really contemporary and aesthetically pleasing.
As you can see here, it’s no secret why the owners of this Oregon shipping container home wanted so many windows to the rear as well as that outdoor deck area. With the sun streaming through those trees, you can really get a sense of the beauty in nature and feel that the home is a part of it. It doesn’t get much better than that when it comes to living in a rural area.
One of the things we love about the design of this Oregon shipping container home is the outcropping areas of the top floor container. These almost become a sort of observation area unto themselves with their long windows and they will make a great place for relaxing and looking out at that beautiful landscape. We think they are a great addition that fits in perfectly with the mission statement of the house.
While it’s one thing to see the exterior of this Oregon shipping container home, it’s quite another to see it from the inside and fully understand the scope of that view. Imagine waking up to this every morning and getting to take in that vast beauty of the Oregon landscape. Keeping these areas completely open like this is a fantastic decision and it will let in so much natural light.
We’re not sure whether or not the designers of this Oregon shipping container home are going to leave the ceilings raw with the original corrugated metal, but we love the look of it. One of the things that makes a home like this interesting is vacillating back and forth between raw and finished and these ceilings could make an excellent nod to the original purpose of these shipping containers.
Even with this simple, spare set up you can really see the potential that is built into this Oregon shipping container home. Getting to watch that sunset every day right through the windows is one of the things that can make a project like this worth any trouble you might encounter during the build process.
One of the things we love about having all these windows is corners just like this one. With very little blocking the view, you can get a 360 degree look at your surroundings and it can feel like you’re on top of the world. If that was the original intention of this Oregon shipping container home, we think the designers have nailed it and we can’t wait to see it when it’s completely finished and ready to go.
