Container Home Hub (“we”, “us”, “the site”) is an independent website about shipping container homes at containerhomehub.com. This policy explains what personal data we collect, why, how long we keep it, who we share it with, and the rights you have. It should be read together with our Terms of Use.
Who is responsible for your data

What we collect and why
Comments. When you leave a comment we collect what you type into the comment form, plus your IP address and browser user-agent string to help spam detection. An anonymised hash of your email address may be sent to the Gravatar service to check whether you use it; the Gravatar privacy policy is at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After a comment is approved, your profile picture is visible to the public alongside the comment. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in running a moderated discussion.
Contact and enquiry forms. If you message us through a form, we receive the details you submit (such as name, email, and your message) so we can reply. Legal basis: taking steps at your request / our legitimate interest in responding.
Newsletter. If you subscribe, we collect your email address (and any name you give) and store it with our email provider, Flodesk, to send you the newsletter. You can unsubscribe from any email at any time. Legal basis: consent.
Purchases (digital products). If you buy a digital download, our store software (Easy Digital Downloads) and our payment processor, Stripe, collect the information needed to take payment and deliver the product — typically your name, email, billing details, and card information. Card details are handled by Stripe; we do not store full card numbers. Legal basis: performance of a contract, and compliance with tax and accounting law.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used (pages viewed, approximate location from IP, device and browser type, referring site). Legal basis: consent where required, otherwise our legitimate interest in measuring and improving the site.
Advertising. We show ads through Mediavine. Mediavine and its partners use cookies and similar technologies for interest-based advertising. Details, the data involved, and opt-outs are in the “Mediavine Programmatic Advertising” section below. Where consent is required, it is collected through Mediavine’s consent management platform (the cookie banner).
Site operation and security. Our host (BigScoots) and our CDN/DNS provider (Cloudflare) process server logs, including IP addresses, to serve and protect the site. Our security plugin (Wordfence) logs IP addresses and request data to block malicious traffic. Comment spam is screened by Akismet (Automattic). Legal basis: legitimate interest in a secure, working site.
Media. If you are a contributor and upload images, please strip embedded location data (EXIF GPS) first — visitors can download images and extract any location data left in them.
Cookies
We use: essential cookies (needed for the site and, for logged-in contributors, for login and screen preferences); analytics cookies (Google Analytics); and advertising cookies (Mediavine and partners). If you leave a comment you may opt in to a cookie that remembers your name, email, and website for next time (lasts one year). You can accept or reject non-essential cookies through the cookie banner, and can clear or block cookies in your browser settings.
Who we share data with
We share data only with the service providers named above — Flodesk (newsletter), Stripe (payments), Google (analytics), Mediavine and its advertising partners, BigScoots (hosting), Cloudflare (CDN/DNS), Automattic (Akismet), and Wordfence (security) — each processing data on our behalf or, for advertising, as an independent controller. We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising except through the Mediavine advertising described here, which you can opt out of. We may also disclose data if required by law or to protect our rights or the safety of others.
International transfers
Several providers above are in the United States, so your data may be transferred outside the EU/EEA and the UK. Where that happens we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses and/or the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
How long we keep data
- Comments and their metadata: kept indefinitely so follow-up comments can be recognised, unless you ask us to delete them.
- Newsletter: until you unsubscribe or ask us to remove you.
- Purchase and transaction records: kept as long as required by Swedish accounting law (currently seven years).
- Analytics: per Google Analytics’ data-retention setting.
- Contributor account data: for as long as the account exists.
Your rights
Under the GDPR and UK GDPR you can ask us to: give you a copy of your data; correct it; delete it; restrict or object to how we use it; and receive it in a portable format. Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it at any time. To exercise any of these, email [email protected]. You also have the right to complain to a supervisory authority — in Sweden this is the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY, Integritetsskyddsmyndigheten, https://www.imy.se).
If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. As stated above, we do not sell personal information. To exercise these rights, contact us at the address above; we will not discriminate against you for doing so.
Children
Container Home Hub is not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted, and the “last updated” date above will change. Please check back periodically.

Mediavine Programmatic Advertising (Ver 1.1)
The Website works with Mediavine to manage third-party interest-based advertising appearing on the Website. Mediavine serves content and advertisements when you visit the Website, which may use first and third-party cookies. Mediavine Partners (companies listed below with whom Mediavine shares data) may also use this data to link to other end user information the partner has independently collected to deliver targeted advertisements. Mediavine Partners may also separately collect data about end users from other sources, such as advertising IDs or pixels, and link that data to data collected from Mediavine publishers in order to provide interest-based advertising across your online experience, including devices, browsers and apps. This data includes usage data, cookie information, device information, information about interactions between users and advertisements and websites, geolocation data, traffic data, and information about a visitor’s referral source to a particular website. Mediavine Partners may also create unique IDs to create audience segments, which are used to provide targeted advertising.
